Advice for Picking Your Next Outdoors Vehicle

Every Outdoorsman who relies on a vehicle for hunting, fishing, camping, or just going off road to throw your truck into four wheel drive has their own brand that they swear by. Some people will always choose a classic Ford or Chevy pickup truck to handle their adventure; others swear by Rocky Ridge trucks because they're tough and reliable American-made trucks. We all have our favorite outdoors vehicles, and that makes it more upsetting when your trusted current model needs to be replaced. Finding a new truck for the great outdoors can be stressful, but if you start off on the right foot, the whole process can be a lot easier. If you're looking for a new vehicle for your next camping, hunting, or fishing trip; make sure to follow these tips:

Know the value of your old vehicle

When you're thinking about buying a new vehicle, your thoughts probably aren't on how much money your old one is worth. It doesn't matter whether you're planning on selling it or trading it in, you need to figure out how much your previous vehicle is worth. You may be able to sell it and use some of the money you earn for your new vehicle, or you may be able to donate it and use it as a tax write off.

There are many different sources to get a value for your trade online. Kelley Blue Book is still considered the ultimate authority in vehicle values, so head over to their website with some basic information about your car to get a quote.  Just remember the value you get online is only as good as the information you input so make sure you are accurate with the details so the value you get is as close to true market value as possible. Don’t forget that used vehicle values depreciate on a weekly basis so make sure you have a current value before going to a dealership to save yourself time and aggravation.

Think about fuel efficiency

When most people think about finding new vehicles for the great outdoors, they're more concerned with space, horsepower, torque, and off-road capability than they are with anything else. You want a powerful truck that you'll be able to haul a lot of equipment in.  Off-road vehicles can guzzle a lot of gas when you're trekking through the woods or up a mountain side and all of those gallons will start to add up. Believe it or not, now you can get these types of trucks that are fuel efficient without compromising ability due to new technologies like Ford’s Eco-boost engine and Chevy’s new Duramax diesel.

Don't assume that newer is better

It seems like people flock to the dealership as soon as next year's model is available, even if they're not in the market for a new vehicle. Some people are willing to pay anything to make sure that they have the latest model vehicle, and their need to be the first to have something new will cost them a significant amount of money. Often times, you can find a great pre-owned truck for almost half the price of a new one, and just as much manufacturer warranty when dealing with a Certified Pre-Owned Dealer.

If you are in need of a new truck with off-road capabilities to explore the great outdoors, Gentilini Motors is the place for you. As the largest dealer of Rocky Ridge trucks in the Northeast, we have one of the most extensive collections of vehicles on the market.
