Chevy unveiled its new 2015 Silverado 2500 HD at the Texas State Fair this past fall to rave reviews. While the truck was not completely new in design (the chassis was redesigned for the 2011 model year), there were many upgraded features that made their debut at the event, including new cabs, upgraded interior designs and plenty of other improvements to the overall vehicle. Gentilini Motors in South Jersey is one of the top car dealerships in the area for Chevys, boasting a full line of these impressive new trucks.
Making this year's models all about customization, GM promised to continue offering more than 150 combinations of HD pickups. The automaker stated that "one size does not fit all," and thus will allow buyer's choices in body style, drive-train, bed length, and axle ratio, as well as one of three different power plant models. The Silverado's base power plant is a gasoline-burning 6.0-liter Vortec V8, rated at 360 horsepower with 380 pound-feet of torque running through a six-speed automatic transmission. The most popular choice, however, is the Duramax 6.6-liter diesel. This turbocharged engine is rated at 397 horsepower with 765 pound-feet of torque through an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission.
The new Silverado was described by reviewers as having a conservative traditional pickup design, with aerodynamics playing a big role in its shape. At the event, GM engineers explained that the newly sculpted bodywork was intended to provide more airflow to the engines while reducing wind noise in the vehicle cabin. Additionally, the cargo beds of the Silverado have been redesigned to incorporate better illumination, additional tie downs, EZ Lift, lower tailgates, and CornerStep bumpers. GM has also fully integrated a cruise control system into the model, which allows the driver to maintain a consistent speed without having to manually down-shift gears or apply brakes. Furthermore, the system uses the functions of Auto Grade Braking and Diesel Exhaust Braking, which claims to prolong brake life and frictional overheating. GM's StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control is also standard on all models.
The favorite portion of the 2015 Silverado 2500 HD for reviewers at the event, however, was the upgraded interior. The new interior boasts large, vertical vents at four positions to provide plenty of cabin airflow, while the center cluster is reserved for infotainment, complete with the latest eight inch display and IntelliLink connectivity suite, as well as climate and auxiliary controls. There is also a storage compartment up front configured with a 110-volt outlet, an outstanding five USB ports, four 12-volt outlets and an SD card slot.
There was an excess of 475,000 heavy duty pickups sold in the United States in 2013. The newly released Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is considered to be an industry leader with significant upgrades to both its interior and exterior. Gentilini Motors,
