Make efficiency a top priority
When most employees think about finding new
work vehicles, they’re more concerned with space and horsepower than anything
else. You want a powerful truck that
you’ll be able to haul a lot of equipment in, but you’ll always want a car that
has a good mile per gallon ratio. Work
cars can guzzle a lot of gas when you’re going from job to job and all of those
gallons will start to add up. Believe it
or not, there is such a thing as fuel efficient SUVs and pickup trucks.
Think about the benefits of keyless entry
Car keys aren’t complicated to use, but
sometimes they can be inconvenient. Have
you ever gone out during an early morning in the dead of winter to start up
your car, only to fumble with the key and lock for a few minutes? Do you ever have your hands full when you’re
walking to your car, and end up fumbling around to unlock your car door,
dropping whatever you're holding? If you
got a car with remote start capabilities, driving can get a lot easier. It’s one less thing you’ll have to worry
about when trying to get to work.
Consider getting a charging/USB port
Most vehicles were built with cigarette
lighters but if you want to an extra feature that is a bit more modern and
useful, you should look for a car with an extra power outlet. Think about how many electronics you have
when you leave your house for work. You
probably have a smartphone or regular cell phone that you use for work, and
maybe a tablet computer. If you could
have a reliable source of power, you won’t have to worry about having any of
your electronics run out of power.
Think about a GPS system
If you’re getting a car for work, it’s safe to
assume that you’re going to be doing a good amount of traveling. When you’re trying to get to a meeting on
time, the last thing you need to be doing is fumbling around with your
phone. A built in navigation system can
help make getting to new places a lot easier, and can free up your phone for
any important calls.
